Vampedia

In the film Dracula’s Daughter, the Countess Marya Zaleska finds herself not wanting to be a vampire due to the death of her father. She does not have the urge to thirst for blood. She attempts for free herself of the disease but is unable to do so. In order to help herself, she seeks the attention of a psychiatrist, Dr. Garth for help. This reminds me of the situation of the main character Tony in the film, I Was a Teenage Werewolf. Both characters seek help from someone who is certified to do so, but unfortunately for both, things go awry. The Countess has the urge to make Dr. Garth one of the undead as well. Unfortunately, things do not go as planned for her and she ends up dead, in a similar circumstance that Tony gets himself into. These both stand out to me as themes of not being happy with who you are. Both of them are dissatisfied with who they are, and in both films, the dramatics take over and both characters end up dead. Although that is a stretch, I believe that what is trying to be perceived is that if you are not happy with who you are a person then it can kill you, not literally speaking. But these are important things to understand and live by because it is okay to be different and many people do not understand and fight who they are inside. An example of this in the film is the Countess getting medical attention because she is very unhappy with who she is as a vampire. The same thing is seen with Tony in that he is not satisfied with who he is as a teenager who faces a lot of challenges with not fitting in because of who he is.
