Innocent Blood is a 1992 black comedy vampire horror film directed by John Landis and starring Anne Parillaud as the vampire Marie, who lives by a moral code that restricts her bloodsucking to the criminals.
Plot[]
Marie is a vampire living in modern-day Pittsburgh. She has not fed on blood in a while, deciding to try Italian for a change when she reads an article about a mob. Her first victim of the mob is later discovered by the police and they are baffled by why the victim, despite being shot, has little to no blood loss. Her second victim is the mob boss Salvatore Macelli (played by Robert Loggia), which is interrupted by his limo driver before she can sever his spine, forcing her to flee.
In the morgue, Marcelli revives and escapes, confused by what has happened to him, and is pursued by both undercover cop Joseph Gennaro (Anthony LaPagelia) and Marie, who wants to ensure he doesn’t create more vampires like himself. Eventually, Marie and Gennaro decide to work together to take down Marcelli and his mob; during the daylight hours at a motel, Marie and Gennaro learn a bit about each other and soon fall for each other. At the same time, Marcelli spends the daylight hours asleep in a freezer to avoid the sunlight. He learns of his newfound abilities as a vampire and decides to turn his mob members into vampires to take over the city.
One such victim of Marcelli’s is a friend of his that later dies in the hospital when exposed to sunlight.
At night, Marcelli and several of his mob henchmen, turned into vampires, go to a nightclub in the city and take care of their rivals. Marie and Gennaro arrive and fight them, but in the ensuing fight, Marie is injured by Macelli. Gennaro and Marie are able to kill Macelli by blowing him up by setting a bus on fire, and then shoot his head off, despite him thinking he is unstoppable.
