Antasma is the main villain on Mario and Luigi: Dream Team. Antasma induces and then feasts on the nightmares of his victims.

History[]

Prior to the events of the game, Antasma was a normal bat until he fed on the nightmares of the inhabitants of Pi'illo Island. Through the dark energy he consumed, he became a powerful force to be reckoned with and then set his eyes on the Dark Stone, a magical stone fueled by nightmares, unlike its counterpart the Dream Stone. Both the dark and dream stones could grant the wishes of whoever possessed it, but the Pi'illo people stopped Antasma and sealed him away, but before he was sealed, Antasma crushed the Dark Stone, and the scattering shards caused the Pi'illo race to turn stone.

Appearance[]

Antasma has three forms, a bat, a cloud of smoke, and his true form. In his true form, he is a shadowy figure who appears to be wearing a black mask. He has long, purple arms, a red and purple cape, a bat-wing bowtie and a normal tie, and sharp fangs.

Personality[]

Antasma hates the Pi'illo race, particularly Prince Dreambert. He is careful, taking his time to decide whose power he needs to accomplish his goals after being trapped in the Dream World for centuries. However, he makes the mistake of trusting Bowser, and finds himself quickly betrayed by the Koopa King.

Speech[]

Antasma's mannerisms and speech pattern is based on early film depictions of Dracula, such as replacing "w" with "v" in various words. However, he also has a habit of screeching like a bat while talking, likely because he originally was one.
